Mangaweka Fakes & Forgeries Exhibition and Arts Festival

Hello Art Lovers!

Ok dudes, no mucking around this time. Here are the details for this years Mangaweka Fakes & Forgeries Exhibition and Arts Festival of Events!
A day full of art, markets, music, & fantastic carnival atmosphere, all kicking off at 9am on Saturday the 24th of October 2009.

But before then ..........

Roughly this fun packed day will begin with the Grande Re-opening of Mangaweka's Iconic DC-3 Aeroplane Cafe, at the newly established Mangaweka International Airport at 9am! Soon followed by the opening of Craft/Producers markets in the Museum grounds and dotted around various other locations of the Township. Then get ready for the inspirational official opening of "Good as Goldie" Museum on the old Historic Main Street! Then at Mid-day the Fakes & Forgeries Exhibition will open it's doors, and public voting will begin! 1pm see's the NEW River Centre Shop's official opening, followed by the Historic Jail opening at the old Police Constabulary. Throughout the day there will be around three brande new Mangaweka Masterpieces unveiled, and then at around 3pm the Fakes & Forgeries Prize giving/Awards will begin here at the Yellow Church Gallery! All this is followed by LIVE Music from the Taihape Musicians Club Band and open mike poetry at the Mangaweka Hotel till late into the nite !! Plus watch out for other surprises, and perhaps even a few celebrity faces in the crowds! Watch this space!! So all in all a day not to be missed. Conditions of Entry

1. This Exhibition is open to ALL Scurrilous Deviants capable of knocking up an ‘Alf decent Forgery, and even to professional Artists who have longed for the excuse this event offers to copy a long time favourite piece of inspirational work!
2. Works must have been created in the last 18 months and signed by the entering Artist, but please, must NOT be totally original (This is a Fakes & Forgeries Exhibition!).
Works can be identical copies, copies “with a twist”, or “inspired by” a previous, preferably well known Artist and/or Painting/Art work.
3. Paintings, Photography, Prints, Ceramics, Woven, Knitted, What-ever! Be creative! Just make sure if it is not bigger than 1.2m sq for hung work, or for an instillation type work, that it can be moved by one person (anything bigger, be prepared to come help! And contact FIRST a yes/no!).
4. All works entered in any category must be priced, and must be for sale. Price to include a 33.3% commission (inc GST). Artist will receive 66.6% of sale price.
5. All wall mounted works must be strung, any paint DRY! and be ready to hang.
6. All works must be clearly labelled, in this order with; Artists Name; Contact Info (address and phone number) Title of Work; Inspired By; Medium; Aprox Size and Sale Price. This label must be attached to the work by string or fishing line, so that it can hang over the top of work for easy identification.
7. Once entry form has been submitted, all data will be entered in our system once only, then printed, therefore NO alterations to price/description etc permitted after submission.
8. Whilst extreme care will be taken with all works, It is the responsibility of the artist to insure their work for the duration of the exhibition and during transit and/or courier to/from the event.
9. Entry fees; Adults $20 first piece, $15 a second, and $10 for a third* Must all be by same artist and total payed in one amount. Kids $5 first piece, $4 a second, and $3 for a third* Must all be by same artist and total payed in one amount. Maximum three entries per Adult or Child Artist.
10. Cheques to be made out to; Richard Aslett. Cash/Eftpos payment available on site.
11. Entry forms in with full payment by 5pm Sunday 11th October 2009.
12. Delivery of Works (including entry form/s and full payment by cheque) can be courier delivered to; Fakes & Forgeries, Mangaweka “Yellow Church” Gallery, SH1 (PO Box 56), Rangitikei 4746 anytime from October 1st to the 18th.
Works can be personally delivered ONLY on weekends from 3rd to the 18th October. Final closing is 5pm Sunday the 18th. Works not be accepted after this date
13. Entry is on condition that works can be photographed for a probable catalogue, archival purposes and/or promotional purposes for this and any future Arts events.
14. All works entered are most likely to be exhibited, unless deemed over offensive or not complying with rules of entry.
No refunds on any fees once submitted, even in unlikely event of non display of work.
15. The Judging panel consists of (in alphabetical order) Richard Aslett, Lisa Bearsley, and Julie Oliver. Judges decision is final. No correspondence entered into.
Adults $500 Cash Top Prize. $100 Cash Runner-Up. Kids prizes Art Materials & Canvases. *Public Vote Vouchers to spend at “Yellow Church” Gallery.
16. All works to remain on display for the duration of the Exhibition (ends November 30th).
17. All works not sold must be uplifted (on week-ends) no later than Sunday the 13th of December 2009, unless PRIOR alternative arrangements have been made.
18. Entry to this exhibition means acceptance of all the above rules in their entirety.
